Start with dessert...life is uncertain.

That being said, let me tell you about all the yummish pie flavors we will be serving on Sunday:
Apple, Cherry, Pecan, Lemon Crunch, raspberry-peach-apple, blueberry-raspberry-blackberry. With whipped cream of course, or step next door to C's Bakery for a scoop of homemade ice cream. Or, for you 'healthy' folks, will have bowls of watermelon chunks!
Then......go have a pork parfait at Painted Hill Farm's lunch wagon!

No, of course all the pies are NOT homemade, unless Chef Pierre comes to visit between now and then. We are baking them though! Last year my mom and step dad peeled apples for about 3 days for the apple crisp we served. Granted, they took a lot of breaks, and weren't as fast as machines, but that is just too much work. After carpel apple tunnel, and 6 weeks of PT they were back to normal. Besides this is MY party and I set the rules HERE! =)
You Farmer's Market folks will understand that last line!

Ahhhh.....the Daylilies

My next favorite group of flowers after the beloved iris are the daylilies, that is why I have over 120 varieities. This above 'glowing angel' is Spellbinder. So brilliant you can see it across the field.

This dark beauty is 'Bela Lugosi.' Much darker in person....come see....but hurry!

So ruffly is 'Dymanic Apricot Ruffles.' Huge flowers on strong stems. We have many varieties potted up. The day of the festival, our Horticulture Assistant Martin will be on hand to dig dayliles 'on demand' for ones we may not have potted that you like. And...he'll help you get them to your car! We normally do not just go out and dig big plants, so take advantage of this opportunity to get huge, well established plants. Of course it is okay to move them now, would I sell them if it wasn't? =)
Pricing on the jumbo plants starts at $16 and up.

FYI - Sunday

We will NOT be at Whiskey River this Sunday, it's all about the Farm Festival.

Stop me and say 'hi!'

The festival is all about the plants, the farm and YOU! Love to meet everyone that stops out. After last year heard there were folks there I didn't see, didn't recognize or totally missed.
I know 'I' haven't changed in 30 years, but some of you may have, so re-intro yourselves if I don't spot you first!!!

We don't live next door to the field.

Just a reminder that we don't live there, as often is thought. We live 1.5 miles away on Lake Emily. Many times my neighbors have put up with folks knocking on their door. For me, that is an advantage of NOT living right there, you would have no peace, ever! So I endure the long commute everyday,ha. Somedays I go back and forth a lot, forgot this, forgot that....wait...what did I come back for?
Here I go again admitting to being blonde: Last week I was emailing friend #1 to ask the LAST name of friend #2 which I had forgotten. By the time I got to the question 2 minutes later, I couldn't remember the FIRST name of friend #2. After running thru a list of men's names over and over in my head, about 4 hours later I remembered! Too much sun and heat, wearing me down!

Festival weather

It's going to drive me crazy checking the forecast for Sunday. A few days ago the forecast was great. Now WCCO has 89, humid and 40% chance of T-storms. What could be worse!!!
I am now taking stock in the fact the weather people are seldom right. It's going to be a lonnnggg week.
