Feeling the garden Blues instead of Green?

It has been a tough year in this area for farming or gardening whether vegetables or flower gardens.
Even if your gardens are in reach of a garden hose (lucky) the heat has been horrible. Too much prolonged heat stresses plants, and stressed plants often flower earlier than usual (so sometimes smaller) leafy vegetables will bolt quickly. Why does this happen? If growing conditions are normal the plant just grows along w/o issue. When prolonged stressful conditions persist, the plant feels the need to complete it's only purpose in life quickly - produce flowers to form seeds! It gets tempting to just mow it all down, and sometimes that is best.......it can be so uplifting!
Just checked some of this years unusual melons I planted.........looking good, but now to find the info on them so I know when they are ripe!

See you in St. Peter Tuesday 2:30 - 5:30 as I fill in for Janice who is on vacation (WTH is that?)

We will also have a crazy duo in Mankato 3:30 - 6.

Picked the first raspberries today, just starting and they are LOADED!
