Resist the Rose bushes!

Anyday now, I expect to see rose bushes at some of the big box stores. Resist buying any of these plants that are for sale way too early. On many occasions I have spoke to management and ask them "why do you sell outdoor plants months before they can go outdoors?" There response is that they 'have no control.' How lame is that in this world of instant communcation, nobody has told upper management ths Minnesota is climate zone 3 and 4, not 6. Outdoor plants need to be 'outdoors.' So keeping your waxed rose plant on the kitchen window for 2 months....not a good idea. I am not surprised than when new gardeners feel like failures. One would think 'if I shouldn't be buying it yet, than why would it be for sale?' We just must be patient, and trust that spring will come (it's only Jan.!)
