Peony roots for sale!!!

Spent yesterday digging peony roots for orders and to sell in baskets at Mankato Farmers market, St. Peter Food Co-op and Jim's Apple Barn in Belle Plaine. Here a few of the varieties, not sure yet what will end up where! Above is "Golly.' Seems like a strange name.......that is until you see it, and you say 'golly that's beautiful!.' "Golly" was one of my Grandma's favorite words used to describe everything from warm buns out of the oven to flowers from her expansive garden. Yes, she was my flower garden mentor, and golly do I miss her!
Above is Sarah Bernhardt, one of the most gorgeous pinks with the real 'cabbage rose' look.
Lullaby is soooooooo gorgeous. It blooms very late and is very tall - 42-47".
I have had this beauty bloom as late as July 7th in 2011. When most peonies are done, Lullaby is just
forming it's buds.

If you never seen a bareroot plant or tried planting one.......don't be scared!!! They are easy to install.
The real critical issue is the 'eyes' aka 'growing points' need to be 1-2" below the soil line. Deeper and they won't bloom, too shallow and the points die. Besides that they are easy! We will have growing information sheets posted at all of our selling sites. We are not digging individual orders anymore this year, so check out the baskets of roots ready to go.
