Iris Everywhere, 75% blooming.
I am amazed this year at how tall some of iris are, nearly eye to eye. All the big groups are blooming. Two of everyones dark dark favorites, Superstition and Dusky Challenger were just starting yesterday. It would have been nice to have gotten more than 2 raindrops last night, oh well, filling the water tank again! We are sold out of only a couple smaller groups. Should be near 100% blooming by the weekend. We are open Memorial Day for your touring pleasure.

IT WAS SO HOT TODAY!!!!!!
Last year at this time......the same weather crap happened. Hot and windy and fried the transplants. This year, they are getting watered every other day, so it's helping. As for me, I tried to keep watered today too. Actually could have caught me 4 times in the truck with the air running to cool down. Had the chills/goosebumps on and off all afternoon. This would be a key indicator you are overheated and to seek shade. Oh wait, I have none. So, there I was roasting in the heat, all in the name of plants. Did I mention I am a natural blonde? There. I've said it.

With this impending (and unwelcome) heat, I am predicting most of the iris will be blooming this week. Don't wait till all your favorites are sold out. Only a few varieties sold out so far.
