I am hoping this is the last day I have to close this year for rain and cold, and did I mention windy conditions are on the way? I am afraid everyone would be on their butts in the field today,
which may sound like fun until you have to get back into your car!

Mr. Ed was a crazy horse....

and the peony named Mr. Ed is a little crazy too. Some of the flowers are white, some pink, some a blend and some 50-50 like you drew a line down the middle? Very strange indeed. Took this photo in my field last year. Very fat and fragrant though! We have lots of peonies potted up and ready to go home to your garden. Supposed to be beautiful this weekend, but let's face it, anything would be an improvement!

Rain and 43 degrees

CLOSED for the day. I know I know. I said a while back when we got our parking lot done we wouldn't have to close for rain anymore. That was not however, taking into account the temperatures. Last year, we were not open in the field till the last week of May. Never thought about how 'cold' it may get. Stop out this wekend when it is 'supposed' to to beautiful!

Iris are tagged and ready

Did you miss out on one of your favorites last year that was already sold-out? Here is your chance to get ahead of the crowds. 95% of the iris are already tagged and ready for sale. Same as last year, browse, order with 50% down, pick-up in mid summer. Iris are ready to be dug in mid-summer, not now. But I do have some TB blues that were potted up last fall and wintered over great, only lost 2 of 34 of my experiment. Some of the shorties are already blooming, and many intermediates getting ready to pop.

And the winner is......

Since I am nearing the 5,000th visitor to my blog, I thought I should have a contest. But what's the catch? You must join my blog and be a follower, very simple, no extra emails, no cost etc. There are only 21 of you faithfuls, but about 15 or more new visitors per day. If the 'stat' counter, on the lower right column hits 5,000 when you are visting, AND you are a member, lmk asap. I am going to give you a plant of your choice, but you must be able to pick up here or at the Farmer's Market in Mankato on a Saturday.
