OPEN SATURDAY

Despite being a crappy weather day we are open, unless it starts to rain. Feel free to call first. I was in the mud last night out there picking flowers and such. After each armload down a row, I had to use a knife to get the mud off my shoes. Dedication. Well, I guess other words come to mind as well.

Friday CLOSED ALL DAY, TOO WET AND STILL RAINING

Friday

Field closed for the morning for sure due to the much needed rain, and ...listening to how hard it is coming down, could be all day. Your iris orders are at the house, as well as our vegetables and sweet corn. If you would like to pick anything up call me at 507-382-9337.
We DO NOT live next door, so call, we are about 1 mile from the field.

Okay update 11 am. what a crappy day! tried to stick my head out the door without getting blowed away. I do predict we will be closed all day, open again Sat from 8-12, assuming the rain stops at some point. As long as it doesn't do this on the 23rd we'll be okay!!!!

FESTIVAL ADDITIONS

Today we added a potter, who may also do some spinning at the festival.
And we have added my friend Trish's team of Percherons to pull a wagon and give rides around the farm.

Predicting.........

Can I go out on a cornstalk and predict sweetcorn for Wed? I am hopeful. These other folks must be planting in March. I'll try that next year! Lotsa folks have been touring the daylilies in full bloom, come on out before there done! If I contacted you regarding your iris, please pick up as soon as possible, the truck is getting full. They will all be dug by the 15th.

Welcome to my newest blogspot member Juls. Would you like to set up at our festival? You have cool stuff. =) please email me or call 507-382-9337

Pick your own FLOWERS and BASIL!

Oh wait someone already picked this on! Seriously though. We now have enough flowers blooming to offer a 'pick your own bouquet.' Prices vary but most are 40-50 cents a stem when you pick. Woody cuts are higher. Bring your bucket with water and a pruners and snip away.
Because I sell cut flowers to several places, there may be a limit on some.
Here is a few buckets of statice, a crowd favorite. Statice would be .30 a stem

Zinnias, love their bright colors. They would be .50 a stem.

We have many colors of zinnia, red, pink, orange, yellow, white, purply, and red lime.
Some other flowers are white, yellow and pink snapdragons. Wheat celosias in burgundy and white. Gomphrena in orange, purple and white (later on). Ageratum in blue and wine color.
Purple Evolution Salvia and Victoria Blue Salia, Helichrysum (strawflower) in many colors. Fragrant stocks in lavender, white and some mixed. Purple Buddleia just starting, Dianthus Neon Cherry, Neon Purple, and mixed. Cosmos, Bright Lights and 2 pinks, foliages, Shasta Daisy, Purple Korean mint (6 feet tall), Dayliles galore 75 cents to $1 each. Liatris white and purple, Bupleurum, Lime Light Hydrangea soon, many woody berry stem and filler stems, etc. etc.
For basil we have Sweet Italian, Lemon and lime, 50 - 75 a stem. Freezing basil is easy. I blend it with olive oil in the blender, just to make a paste, a little thicker than ketchup, it will need a lot stirring and pushing with a spatula. Then I freeze in ziploc snack bags, and thaw when ready to use. Then add your garlic, parmesan salt etc. When I have salted before freezing, it seemed bitter. Freezes for a long time.
