Saturday Open House

Flowers that are headed to Mankato for the Farmer's market. The blue iris is 'Tokatee Falls.'
the peony is 'Sarah Bernhardt.'
Someof this weeks beauty all wrapped up and ready to go. These are our $15 bouquets, with 20-25 stems each. So big and gorgeous.

A little of all colors of early summer.

This peony is 'Lee,' with 'Merlot' iris which have a sweet wine smell, so wow!
These are all still blooming in the field at Earthworks.

Another pail of beauties, I'll be sad when the peonies and iris are gone for the year. Stop by and comfort me with chocolate and a latte.................

Behind this mornings fog, there seems to be a foreign object in the sky.....oh wait, could it be the sun? After all this rain a little sun and warm weather would do the suffering plants some good.
We will be open today from 8-4, unless it starts to rain again like it did yesterday, enough already! Come tour the iris while they wind down this seasons show.

Friday Open House

Bride's Dream Peony
Coral Charm peony, much more corally in person

'Lucky' with a brocade like center, very unusual.

'Golly,' I know that's exactly what my Grandma would have said!

I know it's still just Thursday, but Fridays are so busy around here. So I am going out on a limb and saying we are 'open' Friday from 10-6. I am assuming of course that it won't rain, or if it does not 2" again! There are still many beautiful iris pumping out the petals, so stop by and take a look! You can also order peonies for fall.

Still open

Can you believe it? Finally not too muddy. Lisa will be there until 6 pm, and I am heading to the Farmer's Market in Mankato with plants and gorgeous bouquets! See you there.

Thursday.....will the weather hold out?

Okay, I really mean it this time, we plan to be open from 10-6. Lot's of new iris opening. If you are driving a ways, don't hesitate to call first. If the sun would come out for a few minutes or perhaps the slightest breeze could blow, it would sure help to dry things up. I am also planning to go to the Farmers Market in Mankato today from 3:30 - 6. I will have perennial plants, bouquets, and Joan's pots. If it doesn't rain again, we will be open Fri. 10-6, Sat. 8-4 & Sun. 12-4. Beyond that I don't know the hours for sure, need to see how much is still blooming. Dress accordingly, it is a field, can be cooler than in town, and wear boots/shoes that are not your favorites. My phone is 507-382-9337

Weather Forcing us to Close

So Sorry........but drizzly, a cold 54 degrees, muddy and miserable. It only takes about 10 mintues of walking around to have 10 extra pounds of mud on each shoe and wet pant legs! We will see what tomorrow brings. Please call before heading out, the weather can change quickly. 507-382-9337

Wednesday, we will be open from 10-6

This is "Pink Pink," and has been very popular this year, and is still blooming.
'Swingtown' above is in mid bloom right now. Some of the iris are beat up from the rain, but still plenty to see. Finally should be dry enough to get in the field. If you are visiting, make sure to wear shoes/boots that you can wash or don't care about. NO driving tours today. Typically we don't want folks driving thru the fields, but have allowed when it seems like the only way. Please ask first. This Sunday, we will wrap up the 'iris open house' and will not be open for sales everyday. Still thinking about a schedule.......

Still Closed

We are still closed, way too muddy yet. We can hope for tomorrow. Believe me, nothing makes me feel worse then being out of the flower field!

Tuesday, closed morning for sure....

IF the sun comes out and IF it doesn't rain again, we may be open in the field this afternoon. I will post again around 1 pm to let you know. There looks like a band of showers headed our way on the radar. What a bummer, all those beautiful iris and no one to look at them! If weather is questionable, always call ahead. Even if it is not raining, it still can be to muddy to drive in the field, and walk around. If you haven't been here before, it is truely a 'field.' No parking lot, no concrete, just a field! My phone is 507-382-9337.

Monday....CLOSED DUE TO RAIN

Alright so we needed some rain, but nearly 2 inches in 2 days? Time to stop! We will be closed today. Again I would like to mention we do NOT LIVE next to the field. Our neighbors out there had numerous people stop over when we were closed Sat. and Sunday until we opened at 1:30 (still was waaaaay to muddy) Sorry for the rain inconveinience, but we hope to be open again this week, there were several iris who have not opened up yet. After hearing that howling wind last night, I hope there are still stalks out there! To all who have visited us, we appreciate you stopping buy and helping to support the efforts of your local flower farmers =). We are working on ideas for a summer fling, maybe some taste testing of vegetables, a sweet corn boil, horse and buggy rides, our meat friends might set up and grill, etc. Any ideas out there? What's the best day of the week? Thinking Sunday afternoon? Let me know.
